New Educare safeguarding training

It is appropriate for charity and other policy reasons that ART is able to offer continuing training to Teachers.

ART has subscribed to the Educare Grassroots programme, with initial registration for online child protection and basic safeguarding training. We are also investigating subscribing to the vulnerable adults programme.

This will be free for all ART Members to access, and our Administrator will add Members soon when login details are to be made available.

The child protection programme to be offered has five modules:-

  1. Child development
  2. Forms of Child abuse
  3. Recognition and Response to Abuse
  4. Reporting abuse – the child abuse system
  5. Good practice

The programme takes the form of online reading followed by an online test. Certificates are produced and Admin can receive reports on usage. The programme itself is generic so some examples may refer to circumstance ringers are unlikely to encounter, but ringers supervising youngsters do have to recognise and consider abuse at home or elsewhere if there is a suggestion of it or in the event that a youngster confides.

There are other programmes available, which ART can now access at discounted cost as a result of our charity status, and we will continue to keep investigating. Another step forward in promoting a professional approach to ringing teaching.
