M1: 20 Oct 2018 - Pattishall

Having never taught anyone to ring before, but keen to begin teaching in my tower, I was really excited to be attending the ART Module 1 'Teaching Bell Handling' Day Course on Saturday 20th October 2018 at Pattishall church, Northampton.

On arrival, we were warmly welcomed by our tutor, Gillian Hughes, and the plan for the day was explained to us. The day was cleverly balanced between theory sessions and practical sessions. Being quite a practical person, I enjoyed the amount of ringing we got to do, and believe I benefited from being able to try out all the skills we learnt on other people.

The atmosphere was friendly and supportive and we had lots of laughs throughout the day. We were free to ask questions and the varying levels of experience from different ringers in the room led to some interesting discussions.

Having attended the day, I feel confident that I can now go away and teach and inspire new ringers in the two towers I ring in (Roade and Ashton, near Northampton).
